I have plenty of extra drives for storage, I am mainly looking to use this as a faster system one, since my system on needs to be replaced.

I have never seen or heard of these adapters, and well i would rather use the sata cables because they are smallwe and easier.

I am running XP pro.

Do I still need drivers for this, I want to make this my new system hard drive.

i dont know if this is much help cos ive only ever used onboard sata for my drives. i just plug the drive in wit no other hdds then boot form my xp cd and let it start the installation up. it comes to a "no mass storage device found" and lets me run a floppy that i got my with my mobo. i presume u got that floppy with ur sata card. then windows installs to that and ur dont with the sata specific things. If u dont have that floppy i presume u would be able to get it from promise (i think u sed that was the make) itl usually downloads in a zip file. uve gotta put everything thats in that zip on the floppy. hope that helps
