I have a SATA HDD and i know that people without SATA connections can get an adapter to fit on the back of their IDE HDD so they can connect to a SATA port, what i was wondering was can i get one of those adapters to put onto the back of my CD/DVD drive and connect it into my other SATA port and if i can will it increase the data transfer from CD/DVD to HDD.

Thanks

I don't think so. I wouldn't try to adapt anythign like that, as it sounds like it would only slow things dwon, as all bottlenecks would still exist. And even for ATA, with non-RAIDed hard diasks and optical drives, the bottleneck is not the cable but the drive itself. The only way to increase transer rate is to make sure the HD and CD are on different channels, and buy a faster CD drive.
