I don't completely understand the bios settings for the SATA drive settings. It is an ASUS mobo. The options are: Standard IDE, AHCI, and RAID. I am not using a raid setup. Does any know anything about AHCI? It "enables advanced SATA functions." Then it says "if you want to use the SATA hard disk drives as Parallel ATA physical storage devices, set this item to [Standard IDE]
It also says that "The SATA controller is set to native mode when set to AHCI."

The default was Standard IDE and I haven't changed it.

I want to make sure I am getting the full potential out of my SATA drives. Any thoughts? Any other bios settings that should be changed when using SATA drives?

Thanks

if your not sure that your getting your maximum performace, use a benchmark tools and compare to peoples here on Tech-forums.

Yeah, I can do that in about a week. I have been out of town this last week and have one more to go. I just thought someone here would have experience with the asus bios and the sata settings. This is my first time dealing with sata.
