i has an old 286 system.
i ripped the power supply off and thought that maybe i can use the fan from it.
is it possible?
it think it is the same fan that you can buy, with the red and black wires.
one more thing,it was soldered to the power supply board so i had to cut it off.
how do i put the 3-pin socket so that i can use it it my new system as an additional exhaust fan,if possible?

thanks!

Since decent case fans only cost about $10-$15, you'd probably be better off just buying a brand new one. I'm sure you could rig your old 286 fan up to do the job, but you'd no doubt be better off buying a real case fan and using it properly :D

yes,baradox,i know its cheap.
but im not doing this on the purpose of adding a fan alone.
i just want to learn a few things here.

im on my way to installing it already.i'm planning on using a female molex connector.

thanks for the thought anyway!
=)

Yes the Molex connectors will work fine,, and it is a good learning opportunity,, and you will probably get the performance out of it that you need,,

But,, once the learning is over,, spend the $10 bucks,, as PaRaDoX suggests,, that way you are sure to have a warranty, new bearings, more powerful airflow, and quieter operation!

Its worth it!,,,

That is ,, after you have finished your project,, of Course,,

Get it,, "course",, "project",,, ya ya ,, ok,, little dry humour there,,

cheers, :)
