Safe Boot To Enhance Compatibility
How many times have you ran into upgrade issues like installing a new CPU into an older motherboard only to find out the new processor isnÂ’t supported. Well, according to HKEPC, AMD is developing something called Safe Boot that adds unified register code to motherboards that allows any processor boot under minimum specs so you can at least flash your BIOS. Thanks to Ed for the heads up.

However, the good news is that AMD is now developing a Safe Boot technology with mainboard and chipset manufactures to enhance the compatibility. Sources said the technology is to add a unified register code such that the system can boot up without appropriate Microcode. Of course, it doesnÂ’t mean the story is ended. With that Microcode, the processorÂ’s voltage and clock are set to a minimum only. Users still have to update the BIOS under the DOS mode.
