Default Remap P2 Windows XP Keyboard

I do mega word processing and need to set up macros, which I have done. I HATE using the alt and control keys in conjunction with other keys on my keyboard to perform these macros. My fingers are very short, so using the function keys is very awkwad for me. I would like to reprogram the keys on my keyboard a little, in particular the two keys that bring up the start menu, and the key that brings up a different menu, depending on what program I am in. When I am in IE, it brings up the Search menu. When I am in Word or Excel, it brings up the Edit menu. Does anyone have any idea how I could remap those three keys? Word does not allow me to select those keys for macro assignment. Thank you for your help.
