reformat now cd/rom will not read

i recently re-formatted my hard-drive since then my cd/rom drive(ide primary master) does not read correctly.
mobo is k8v se deluxe
my hdd is sata. used via drivers xp/2003 for the hdd, loading them with the f6 deal. the cd-rom is detected and will read the driver disk for the mobo... but nothing else.

i started getting confused when i was reading about the sata functions along with the promise dive stuff. currently hdd is on sata 1.

is there something in my bios that could conflict with ide if sata is not config correctly? or vise versa? thanks

Perhaps you should try using a floppy with the driver on it, rather than using the CD.
