I sit about 4.5' from my 22". But I think 2-3' will be good for you...really comes down to personal preference.

It all depends on your eye sight, how long you sit at the console and how much room you have to work with. I sit about 2 feet away, but if you can't see anything, then you'll have to move it to where your comfortable with it.

3 feet for me usually if I turn the screen to movie mode where the brightness and contrast go up I usually sit 4-5 feet away

Eyesight issues arent as common as you would think as the older monitors emmit far more radiation than todays LCD screens do, so if you have a modern LCD i wouldn't really worry about eye sight...

Hello,

The concern with viewing distances of LCD monitors is primarily eye strain. Though, monitor distance can have some effect on posture as well.

My understanding is that your monitor should be placed at a distance where standard sized text is in focus, and can be read without straining the eyes, or having to lean too far forward or backwards.

I sit 1.5 to 2 ft away when gamming. About 8-10 ft when watching avi files.
