Default rechargeable mice

For a wireless optical mouse, is a ion lithium battery or nickel metal hydride battery better? Do ion batteries loose life at all? My NiH batteries have lost a little life over a year.

I do believe the Lithium Ions are better, they have a substancialy longer life period than the nickel.
