Default Raptor connections

I was under the impression that the 10,000 RPM raptor could be set up in raid 0 with SATA cables. I was at a local computer place the other day, and the guy I talked to said you can't run anything faster than a 7,200 RPM drive with SATA because the SATA cables can't support the speed or something like that. Is that true, or was he trying to confuse me!?
