hi, my pc is about 2 years old has a 400w power supply. The last couple of weeks here though, maybe a couple of times a week, not extremely frequent, my motherboard beeps. its almost like the bios beep codes at start up. i get a total of 8 beeps, it sounds like a police siren or something. it is definatly coming from the board as ive had my stereo off and still here it loud and clear. it happens most frequently when burning dvds or running this program i made (anagram cracker), although it will happen in other programs too. After this happens i will reboot and it reboots fine and will run for days ok. ive looked at my cpu temps and they seem ok usually around 35-50. i have a clean system restore disk that i have used to no prevail. any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This can happen if your CPU or power supply fan dip below a minimum RPM and it can be intermittent. Download a system monitor that plots the Fan speed versus time and you can see if it's erratic.

thanks
