Default Ram upgrade preformance increase

I play alot of games and have only 256 mbs of ram and i am wondering if a upgrade to 1 gig will give me a huge increase in preformance by huge i mean 10-20 more FPS in game

Intel p4 2.2 ghz
256 mbs of ram
Ati Radeon 9250
Two 73 gb 10000 rpm raptor hdds

Laptop

Intel Pentium M 2.0 ghz
1 gb ram
Nvidia Geforce 6800
100 gb hdd

I bet that is one of the first generation p4s.. Regardless of what you do its going to suck pretty bad. Getting more ram would help, but unsure of how much.. That radeon 9250 is bringing things down aswell.

better off hooking your laptop up to your monitor kb & mouse and using it for gaming..

yea i know it is but i have a pci bus and there basicly 2 g-cards for it that are any good at all nvidia fx5700 and ati radeon 9250
would u say the nvidia is better?

buy the following
amd64 3200 939 venice
gigabyte k8ns-ultra
2x 512mb ddr400
and a newer video chipset and you will be screaming

1gb will basically help with loading times and make whatever lag was there a little smoother, but no dude 10-20FPS is quite unrealistic...the RAM doesn't even really give you any FPS, it just keeps the game loading smooth and gets rid of choppiness while playing
