Question ram slots question

Kind of a newbish question but:
All computer mobo's that I own have four ram slots however ram usually comes in pairs. Now my question is, if I buy two sets of 2x512 that would give me 2 gigs correct? (considering my mobo could use 2 gigs)

Yes

However, some motherboards (like mine) dont support 4 sticks of DDR400. Its a little weird, but it doesnt. Your CPU also has to have a powerful enough memory controller to handle 2 gigs. 1 gig is plenty these days, unless ur playing BF2 on highest
