ram reading different?

I just got a pc built with 1 gb of ram 2x512mb sticks. On boot it says i have the 1024mb but when in system settings in os it says 960 is this bad. There two exactly the same sticks. Im also having issues where everythings laggy when scrolling or moving windows.

One system has intergrated graphics I am guessing

so get rid of intergrated also the start sequence takes really long time
