I will stick my neck out and say yes, the cmos resides at some address and when the system starts executes instructions to find devices etc. As to when the term ram came out, don't know. I worked on a large digital computer in the 1950's and memory was referred to as core memory. They were actually little cores and women threaded the read, write and inhibit windings wire through them. So I don't recall when ram became the new word.
