Is there anyway to update a bios to get a system to recognize more ram? I don't mean going past the limit of XP on a 32 bit system, but the actual limitation on the motherboard.

I have a hp pavilion laptop that has two ram slots, currently with a 1 gig stick in each. I would like to replace one of those with a 2 gig stick. My Pavilion zd8000 (i think) has a max capacity of 2 gig (not because there aren't slots but because everywhere i read says that is the max the MB can support).

Any way around this one?

Hello,

If the mobo has a limit of 2GB nothing will work to get it to recognize more.

Cheers,
Mak

You can't make it recognize more than 2gb then... sorry :(

A newer version of the BIOS could help.. maybe..
