Default RAID Question

I figured this best fits here.

I am planning to do a hardware RAID 1 with 2 x 640GB drives. I currently have data on one of the 640s.

If I set up a RAID, will those files be deleted?

as far as I know, Yes. But I've only tried Raid0 in the past so I could be wrong.

Yes, you will lose all data. Worked on it before.

OK, thanks. I did a RAID 1 before, but these were when the 640GB drives were brand new.

Setting up the raid, yes. You'll need to format both drives. If the raid is already established on the drive then you won't have to format it, just rebuild.
