raid0 is stripping, gives faster read write times and spreads the 2 disks capacity into one drive. if one drive fails loose data on both.
raid1 is mirroring. same thing wrote to both hdds same speed as 1 and only get the space of one drive but if one drive fails the other is there with a immediate backup.
