Default Radeon 9550 (flashed to 9600) or Geforce 5600???

Ok, so I'm building my XPC in a couple weeks, on a strict budget.
I want to play an occasional game of Doom 3, Unreal, HL2, Warcraft, etc., of course I understand that a budget system can't play todays latest games at anything above medium settings, I'm ok with that.
So, with these factors, what video card would be best, a Radeon 9550 128 MB 128 bit flashed to a Radeon 9600, or a Geforce FX 5600 128 MB 128 bit??

Also, would it be a good idea to put some Arctic Silver 5 between the GPU core and the stock heatsink?
Who knows, may feel like overclocking the GPU via software one day...

Here are the links to the two cards that I'm considering...

and

I also kind of want decent 2D performance as far as Photoshop and other basic Windows programs goes, at 1280x1024 at 60 hz on my NEC Multisync LCD1765.
