Do 24 pin power supplies work on 20 pin mobo's or do you need a converter?

No, 24 pin psu do not plug into 20 pin motherboards. I would suggest to anyone to buy a 24pin psu, in the future all motherboards will be 24 pin. Just get an adapter, they are less than 5$. Its woth it to do it this way than to buy a new psu for a new mobo.

yea you should get an adapter like AND_YOU_ARE said, its better to be safe then sorry.

yes, like the previous posts said, a new mobo is needed if yours is only 20 pin. get a cheap one on newegg or w/e, trust me, you be glad you did. Or if you just need the comp for typing(i doubt it thoguh) it would be more cost effective to get the adapter. Or if your feeling dangerous, take a knife and shave away at the 24 pin till it fits
