Default Question about the Radeon X850 PE

Would a 400 watt power supply be enough to power the Sapphire Radeon X850 XT 256MB Platinum Edition? I know the Nvidia cards are power hungry, but is 400w enough for this card? Appreciate any help.

The Radeon X850 XT PE consumes more power than the 6800 Ultra.

Use this handy utility to figure it out because it also depends on the rest of your system:

I would go higher than 400watt, maybe get an antec true 550 watt and you should be good.

It'll be fine...i think. There are of course hardcore pplz who think that if you're gunna spend that much money on a graphics card, you'd bust out the exttra $50 fo a specialized power supply....

PSU's that come with cases are crap. You need a 450w with a strong +12v rail which I doubt that one will have. This is the powerhouse of your computer, you don't want to skimp out here.

I suggest nothing less than 20a rated +12v line.
