I asked on another topic about a pocket hard drive and someone suggested making my own. Ok, but what will I need to do to make it? What advice can you give on where to go and what to do?

I have decided on the 3.5 drive. One reason I can get over twice as much for a cheaper price. I found an ata160gb for 89 with a 50dollar rebate. That's cheap. This will be a little larger but not that much. Are there any brands of enclosures that would be recommended and why? Thanks again.

you can get enclosures for pretty much every kind of internal drive to make them portable. 3.5", 2.5", 1.8" and even microdrive enclosures.

I have a 3.5" enclosure that takes any IDE drive. A really pretty blue one by NexStar. I'd just search newegg for the kind of enclosure you want. There should be plenty of good choices.
