Question about dual processors

When running a dual processor machine, do the two processors have to be identical (kind of like dual channel) in order to use dual processor su[pport?

Yes is the right answer, and they usually have to be a server processor, like xeon and operaton. Some people got p4's and amd's to run dual processored though

Striaght forward answer to a straight forward question.
I ask because my buddy had a gateway (sic) server with a dual p3 board, but only one processor. So he found another one and got it, an identical one. We were just curious if they had to be the same, for no reason other than our curiousity had to be settled.
