A Question about a CPU?

I am searching for a computer, I've found a barebones system with a AMD Athlon XP 2000+ which is 2.0ghz . I recently asked a question about Celerons and somebody said that AMD Athlon XP's were much better. Anyway, my question is this, is this AMD CPU decent? Can it be good for gaming (like Morrowind or Doom 3)? I've got around a gig or ram.

Also, anybody know what hyperthreading is? I recently read about it on Pentium 4's. Thanks.

Oh yeah, one more thing. Is there a large difference between 4x Agp and 8x Agp? And are they backward compatably?

xp 2000+ is not 2.0 ghz
and yes it beats a celeron
depending on your graphics card you probably will run morrowind, but for doom 3 youll want a decent card

agp 8x is a must for new games like the number, 4x is half the speed of 8x
simple as that

I'm still slightly confused about the AGP thing though. Can I use an older 4XAGP Card with a newer 8X? Oh, and thanxz for the info!

Yes. Most motherboards with an 8x agp slot, will support a 4x card. Check in your bios.. there should be an auto setting for agp and also 4x, 8x settings.
