is it supposed to be putty-like?

i used it a while back and i remember it being very gel like. it was easy to spread and so forth.

i just got a tube and its like putty almost. very hard to spread on the heat sink base and equally difficult to spread on the new venice core i just got.

any advice?

i did lap the heatsink first, not sure if that has anything to do with it. only applied a small amount to the heatsink and rubbed it around with a plastic baggy. even that small amount resisted even spreading :/

Re:

Hello,

I think it is normal. My Arctic Silver 5 which I used had a very thick consistency, or high viscosity. When I applied it to the heatsink it was hard to smooth out, like pushing an eraser across a wooden surface.
