Can a faulty HDD cause the blue screen of death.

I keep getting the blue screen says IRQL_NOT_EQUAL blah blah blah

I have just found out my second HDD is on its last legs.

I have removed it to see if it crashes now.

So can it be that faulty HDD???

Obviously. Blue Screens of Death are caused by errors. The best way to troubleshoot a computer, is to narrow it down peice by peice. However, since you go know that the hard drive is sucky, it expedites the process greatly. Down to nothing. There is more than an average chance that it is the HDD. Remove it, see what happens.
