that would make a big difference!
I have 2 spare CPU's so a fried CPU is no problem
I'm woried about the mobo, I have a spare mobo too, but it's onboard everything

I don't know I'd be kinda careful about that. I think there might be a chance that a damaged CPU could damage other parts in your computer. I'm not entirely sure about that, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was possible. I know a damaged mouse or keyboard can fry a motherboard because someone posted something about that happening before.

i'd tried to o/c my old Pentium 166 MMMX to 213.

I think I will try the "damaged" CPU...it would save me some money

almost...I think 266 or 300MHz will run acceptable

i o/c'ed it by removing the jumper set the FSB to some 75MHz.
