Programs take forever to open

and won't close. Always getting "program not responding" message and when I click "end program" it still will not close. I have Norton security through comcast. Any help for this not so computer savy user ?? Thank you

Start with removing all of Norton and grab Microsoft Security Essentials instead. However, if you don't have a genuine copy of Windows as MSE requires, download AVG as MindoverMaster suggested. Start from there and once you have that completed we'll help with the rest.
