if u need a quick fix that is temporary, u could under clock it drastically, as much as you can, until it is just able to do standard things. try under 1ghz. But still get some thermal compound onto it.

Don't worry guys, it's not my computer, it's my friend's and he doesn't seem to care that his processor is running piping hot. Nothing I can do.
