Default Processor question...

Ok I am thinking about either getting an athlon 64 3200+ or an athlon xp 3200+. Is it better to get the 64 and have 1 gig of ram but not in dual channel or the xp and have 1 gig in dual channel? Which will give me better performance especially for games? Thanks

well although you get a 1mb L2 cache with the clawhammer 64 . . .

some people, when gaming, care more about the video card than their cpu . . .

since youre gaming, which vid card are you getting?

well, you can get the athlon xp3200+ and with the money you save by not getting the 64bit, you can upgrade to an X800Pro/XT or a GeForce 6800 GT/Ultra (though, i recommend getting the GT vs the Ultra)

idk... these cards are like 400 I really don't think I want to spend that much on a graphics card (I wold only save about 60 bucks on the processor). I am going to be playing games like doom 3 , but I am not a hardcore gamer so I don't think I need the absolute best card. Would the 9800 pro still make doom 3 look awesome though?

yeah i guess it will . . .

you wont get as much performance as an X800 or 6-series, but it should do
