Processor info needed

Hey everyone, I'm looking to upgrade my system from a P4 1.5 ghz to an AMD processor. I think I'm looking at around a 3500+ but there's either the clawhammer or the venice. What's the difference between the two? And is that a good choice? I know they go higher, but the're much more expensive too.

I'll probably get an MSI mobo too, unless you suggest something better? I was hoping to keep the whole deal around $300.

Later on, when I start OC'ing the thing, I'd like to look into water cooling... any tips and recommendations on that would be helpful too.

Venice is a bit better, 90nm, overclocking, etc.

Clawhammer was the first core, it run's hot, requires lots of power, and doesnt support a few instruction's


Venice are new latest core, run cool, your power bill can thank you and supports all the latest instructions. Also you can overclock these CPU's ALOT making a 3000+ equal to around 4000+ pretty easily.
