Default which processor?

I want to put together a computer for primarily gaming and I'm debating on 2 processors. Should i go with the AMD athlon 64 3500+ Winchester Processor or the pentium 3.4 ghz? are these good choices?
if not, whats a better choice? i'm looking for something in the $250-350 or so price range.

Get the 3500+ Clawhammer. As far as I know the Winchester is 90nm and some motherboards need to be flashed before you can use it.

AMD is usually the best option when it comes to gaming. INTEL is more for graphics editing and well... "work."

Listen, here is how it goes.

AMD: Gaming, period! Even, Intel doesn't come close for gaming!
Intel: Office applications, video editing, server work, graphics processing, etc.! AMD isn't good at multimedia work, period!

I don't think the average joe is going to have a problem using an AMD 3500+ for anything they can ponder doing on a computer.
