Problems with a new Motherboard!

lol my friend said his computer got hit by lightning two years ago and 'hasnt been the same since' and you hear this ticking sound coming from his computer and its all slow as ****. BUT their HD is screwed and I told him 'when computers get hit by lightning...either they work...or they dont....there is no grey area' so I guess he got lucky, but his computer is NOISY, got a loud ass power supply ticking away and a hard drive that likes to crash a lot. But yeah I got a nice big power surge....power surges are supposed to be ON when you want them to protect shit not turn them off...that defeats the purpose. On most (atleast on mine anyway) when its on theres a light that says 'ACTIVE PROTECTION' or something to that effect.
