Last week, I purchased a new ram module for my laptop. My laptop is a Compaq Presario 906US. The original memory is PC2100 256MB.
I bought another module that is PC2100 512MB ram. However, my laptop is saying my 512MB is actually a 256MB module. I've formatted it (knowing it's probably a problem within BIOS/system). I do believe my BIOS is up to date, I've ran all the updates from Compaq's website. I'm running Windows XP PRO SP1.
You can find the specs for it here: http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Compaq_Presario_906US_470047_897
I've taken out the old memory, and tested just the new one and it still reported it as 256MB. I'm kinda wondering if I got ripped off (bought it from tigerdirect.com, never had a problem from them).
I've done a lot, but I was out tuna fishing all day and I'm reallllly tired
Thank you!
