Hi, I've got an EPSON STYLUS PHOTO RX425 printer.

All of a sudden when I went to print a page it flashed up with ''out of ink'' message. I found this strange as I had not long replaced the cartridges!

So I took the cartridges out to see how low they were. They must of been at least half full - all of them! Anyway, I decided to buy new ones to see if they would work. Brand new cartridges - same message!

I have since reinstalled the software for the printer in-case there was some malfunction. This made no difference.

Does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be?

PS. The ink I'm using isn't actually EPSON ink but I had been using it for a long time previously and it had worked fine for about 18 months!

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hi,

Are you using 3rd party single use compatible ink cartridges...

or empty continuous use refillable cartridges?...

See if you can clean the printer heads in the printer settings (alternatively, press and hold the appropriate button on the printer as indicated either on the label on stuck to your printer, or in the printer's user manual). Also, ensure that the printed circuit boards on the cartridges are clean.
