I'm considering making my new PC using these specs:

ASUS P4P800 SE 865PE P4 Mboard (8X800D4ALGLW)
3.4 GHz 800MHz Intel Pentium 4 HT (512K)
Cooling Fan Socket 478
2x 1G PC3200 - 400MHz DDR Memory
WD 250GB SATA 7200rpm 8M
Black Floppy Disk Drive 1.44MB
No CD/DVD-ROM
LITEON Black 812S DVD±RW/±R Writer
Sound Blaster Audigy OEM
No Speakers
Scorpio Black 450W UL Front USB
WINDOWS XP HOME
Integrated 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet
Could anyone give me a price estimate?

newegg.com will give you the best prices, look there for it. i don't mean to be meen but do it your self please. the forum is a last resort if you can't find it in this situation. oh by the way, welcome to forums man!

ASUS P4P800 SE 865PE 95
3.4 GHz 800MHz 415
Corsair Value Select Memory 184 Pin 1GB DDR x2 550
Western Digital 250GB 7200RPM SATA 180
Floppy 12
liteon 8x dvd rw 90
ati 9800 pro video card 200
windows xp home 100
raidmax scopio case 53

Thats everything you need<onboard sound is sufficient.
About 1800 dollars actually. Theres some thing i would do different like. do a 2.8 for 170 bucks. 1gb memory for 160. that right there brings you down too 1100 bucks.

what ever brand of memory you choose don't go with the value stuff. spend the extra and get either Kingston HyperX or (i think this is right) Corsiar TwinX. Correct me if i'm wrong on the second memory. 1G of RAM is more than enough. good call on the processor mrzeeedler

yeah, does that mobo have an intergrated vid card? or did you forget to add it. And you can always oc the 2.8 to 3.4 i believe, but if you do that you will have to get some better cooling.

you will actually get better performance if you just stick with 1 gig of RAM, 2 gig will slow it down
1. because there is twice the memory to address
2. the 1GB sticks have higher latencies

the fastest RAM is 1024MB Corsair PC3200XL TwinX (TwinX meaning a matched pair to run in dual channel) with latencies 2-2-2-5 (lower=faster)
$308.50

P4 3.4GHZ at $393

Asus P4P800 SE $95

Scorpio Black case $49

Logisys

$163

Western Digital 10,000RPM 36GB Raptor + Windows XP Home <- you can dedicate this drive to the OS and the main programs (like antivirus)
if you do this your OS will load faster because it's on a faster drive, and the drive doesn't have to load other files - and your other HDD(s) will load files faster because they don't have to load the OS
$174

SB Audigy? why not an Audigy 2 and for only $72

Sony Trinitron 21" yes a twenty one inch monitor, it's not new but it's a great monitor.
$150

Powercolor Radeon 9800 XT 256MB $369

Lite-On DVDR/RW black $50

Sony 1.44MB FDD Black $9

Logitech X-220 speakers $30

total = $1813.50
