Pri-Slave Not detected HELP

Hi i was playing a game and it froze. When i reset it said pri slave not detected on boot-up. I reinstalled XP and now everything works as normal except when i boot up is still says Pri Slave Not detected. I replaced the motherboard battery still the same. In Cmos setup Pri slave is set to Auto and comes up not detected when i hit enter.

do u have 2 HD's... 1 as Primary Master, and a second one as Primary slave? or is your OS(operating system) installed on primary slave?

did u rule out the usuals?... switch the HD power connector with a different one and use a known good EIDE cable.
