lol, there's no difference between 1 gig and 2 gig, infact, 4 dimms will slow you down (if that's what he got)

there's no difference between the 3200 and 3800 either

you coulda gotten yourself a good gfx card instead of that pos

I disagree, if you have the money buy the ram. Do you know what encoding is? If you ever do it, I suggest having a good amount of RAM, or you are gonna be waiting around for a while. Having all lanes filled up with RAM is not gonna slow you down. You will still have the dual channel on lanes 1 and 3. Besides, Dual channel only slightly increases performace, sometimes as low 5% percent.

By switching to 2 gigs, you can not have windows page file any of your information, which means the information is not cached on your harddrive, taking up both space and actual latency times.
