Power Supply & 6800 GT

I just installed a GeForce 6800 GT in my old beast. I connected it to the power supply, it seems to be working fine. 2 questions,

1. Is there a way to ensure the card is connected to the power supply properly?

2. Nvidia "recommends" that the card be connected to a 350 watt supply. Mine is 300. Good? Bad? or Ugly?

Make sure that it fits in the card, and that the other end of the line goes to the PSU

2. Indifferent, it uses 350W for maximum performance. You can run it, just not at it's optimal level.
