Default Power issues with Compaq Armada M700

Hello everyone.
A few weeks ago I was handed a second hand Armada M700.
Soon after I got it, it started to pretend that the battery was not plugged in, and would boot up only if plugged to mains.
I spoke to the tech guys at uni, and they have the same problem with their M700, so I'm thinking the problem may be reasonably common....

I've tested the battery it came with(the auto test) and the battery is charged.

I have also bought a multibay battery (works.. tested it in my E500), and both my M700 and the one at uni don't see it when it is plugged in.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? or possibly have a set of schematics for the M700, or even just know where I can buy them?

The closest I found was this:

However it looks to be the russian version of the Manual.

I roughly had it translated though and it says that 22 in the diagram is "The lithium-ionic battery"

I dont know anything about batteries except that I need AA's for my mouse lol. But I bought this point up that it may need to be specifically this type of battery.
