I just found out that with a new system that i plan to get, i will need a new monitor as well. I am going to get either a 17" or 19" LCD screen but i dont know anything about what to look for or what manufacturers are good in this area. Can anyone help me out with some details?

Thanks.

IBM has sick ones, Ive never really bought on, I mean personaly. All I know is that make sure you get an LCD and not just a flate screen!!! there are alot of _crappy_ flat screen sh1t out there thats just a flatscreen moniture.....and a poor one at that.

Oh ya i know about that. I know what an LCD thin panel screen should look like, just not what specs to look for. Or what manufacturers are good.

You want as low a response time as you can get. 16ms is good, 12ms is better. A good contrast ratio is also. Samsung and Viewsonic both make excellent LCDs.

Thanks, i'll have a look at that list. The monitor i will be quoted on is a samsung. However there response time is 25m/s. Is that ok?

Is benQ a good manufacturer fo LCD monitors? (prices in CAD)

Benq 17" LCD monitor FP757-16 (with MIR $50) $335
Benq 19" LCD monitor FP931 (with MIR $50) $499
Samsung 19" LCD monitor 913V (with MIR $30) $547

These are the ones i have been quoted on.
