please help needed

how would i reformat/wipe a Dell L400 Latitude Laptop with a pentium 3 processor... Its got Microsoft 2000 Professional edition on it.... I need to wipe that and put XP or a home edition of 2000 on it... Every time i boot the pc up i come to the gilead log on screen which i can't log on because im not connected to any domain.... ive tried multiple selections in BIOS, ive tried booting up from the CD, but nothing seems to work... any help would be cool.....

well I dont know why that pc wont boot off the cd, it should, unless you dont have a bootable copy of XP, you have to boot of that cd eventually to install that OS on your computer.

Did you set the cd rom to be the first boot devise? it not do that now....

you can also press F8 I think right at the start, should give you a boot option, this migth be differnt on your pc.

change the option in the bios, see if you can boot.
