although you still need to install drivers for SATA in XP. might be different in Vista though.

I have an IDE hard drive(two actually and bought round IDE cables.

if you are runnning XP with SP1, upgrade to SP2.
there is something wrong with SP1 where it will only show 133Gb [maybe 127Gb?] but yeah, SP2 fixes that.
