Please explain the difference between SATA and IDE Harddrives

although you still need to install drivers for SATA in XP. might be different in Vista though.

I already have a IDE drive with 8mb cache that has 200GB(but due to a little problem when installing windows, ended up with 133) and the computer is running fine.

if you are runnning XP with SP1, upgrade to SP2.
there is something wrong with SP1 where it will only show 133Gb [maybe 127Gb?] but yeah, SP2 fixes that.
