Please can someone help????

I've been trying to download programs today and everytime something is done and I try to install it will tell me its not a valid Win32 application. Is there some type of file that i'm missing? Please someone help me i'm going crazy not being able to download things.
I know this is probably the wrong place to post this but I wasn't sure where else to put it, sorry i'm new here.

Ok. This happens sometime when you install an application and it requires a restart and you choose not to restart. The (ikernal) engine becomes corrupt and won't let you install anything else. This is part of the installshield.

Try this. Navigate to: PROGRAM FILES > COMMON FILES > INSTALLSHIELD and delete the (ENGINE) file in that directory. Then download this (ikernalupdate) file http://support.installshield.com/kb/files/Q108312/ikernelupdate.exe and double click on it to install it. Then once installed (Restart your PC).
