Pci video card

On another post ,I said I bought a new mobo and put a 4x card in a 8x slot. The mobo may be 8x only because I dont have any graphics when I boot up. Before I invest in a 8x card I want to make sure the board is not doa. I have a geforce pci card . Is there any way to hook up a pci card without using the bios because obviosly I cant see any graphics with the 4x card?

Well, think of it like this; Say someone bought the MoBo and only a PCI card. How would they be able to set the video card up in order to use it? If you plug in a PCI card, it will automatically use that. Maybe if you get into the bios with a PCI card and change the agp down to 4X, it could, and should work. If it dosent, the board is prolly DOA.
