pci card that holds data even when restarted

Some lan parties or some places that don't want their computers wiped out by noobs have their pci card or whatever it is so that the data will remain even after restart or shutdown. I'm wondering what this is...
 
it is called "Deep Freeze"

It allows maximum usage out of a computer but no matter what the user did, the computer is returned back to the original "admin mapped" state when restarted. My HS used this type of protection.
 
That is genius I never new you could get things like that handy for one of my rigs that the family seem to use and mess up no matter how many times I tell them not to.
 
It's not really a virtual environment. Basically deepfreeze takes an image of the HDD, and everytime it reboots reloads that image.

It's sweet software if a PC is going to see public use.
