Default PC2700 Dual Channel

Can PC2700 run in dual channel? My motherboard supports it, but I currently only have 512MB pc2700, and I was looking into buying some more. I think my computer would run faster with 1gb 2x512mb than 1.5gb regular. And there is really no reason for anymore than 1gb ram, so will pc2700 work or do I need pc3200?
