just get what ever ram corresponds with the fsb and you'll be good.

well. Your situation is almost like mine. I have a stick of pc2700 ram right now but only have a AMD Athlon XP 2400+ with the 266FSB like you said. So I'm gonna be upgrading my ram and I'm just gonna buy the pc3200 RAM for now, then about a month from now get another 512mb stick of pc3200 ram plus buy the AMD Athlon XP 3200+ chip then I got an extra 2400+ processor and a stick of pc2700 ram that I'm gonna make another computer out of cause I got another mobo, hd, cd-rom etc laying around =) Best bet is to go ahead and get the pc3200 ram cause then if you upgrade to 400FSB cpu you'll be ready as far as ram goes unless you plan on going with the neo motherboard and whatnot with 800-1000 FSB then you can get even bigger RAM
