Hi
I got an old pc (actually two) from work, and tried to get it to run, after scavenging components from the two machines, i finally got it to run to an extent.

the problem is without the hard disk it says non-system disk...(understandable)

but with the hard disk in position, it does nto run through ram check, the hard disk light is lit up but nothing happens.

any clues

go into the bios and check and make sure that it see's the hard drive as installed, should be primary device 0. reseat the harddrive and make sure everything is in tight

Also check the drive and any other drives are all jumpered out correctly ie Master/Slave/Cable Select, they can have a knock on effect on each other.

Also if your getting a problem in POST you may well hear some beeping, let us know what it is if any

thanks for the help dudes, i need to sort out a keyboard and a mouse (non USB) before i can get going.
my PS2 mouse and keyboard are both kaput.
