Pata???

pata is parallel ata (normalo IDE) where as SATA is Serial ata. A PATA hard drive will transfer stuff at a maximum of 133mb/s where as SATA is 150mb/s. SATA is defenitly better, and since the wire is smaller, it creates better airflow.
 
well, you can also get rounded cables

i just get sata because of the theoretical speeds and because on newegg, theyre just a few $ more

The only reason im doing this is out of extreme boredom. But shouldnt it be it ALLOWS better airflow? Because it doesnt generate aka create airflow of any kind.
